see wes run

wes continues to crack us up (and challenge us!) on a daily basis.  it is truly amazing how much these little people understand at this young age!

a few of my fave things as of late are:

-he says "ensigid" for "excited"... "I AM SO ENSIGID FOR HALLOWEEN!"

-the other day he asked a question and i was kind of zoning out and just answered with a lame "because." and he said "but mommy, 'because' does not answer the question." oh snap. i gotta stay on point with this one!

-whenever you say i love you, he will say back "i love you too!"... so if you say "have a good night's sleep", he will say back "you have a good night's sleep too!"

-he still cannot say his "th's"... so that is 'lat' and those is 'lose' and this is 'liss'.. and thank you is 'lank you'

-wes has made up a new contraction. it's called "willn't", as in "will not", as in "won't". even better is the fact that he can't really say his l's yet so it comes out sounding more like "i wewn't eat squash" (which is actually true. he won't eat squash)

but my most favorite development these days is that wes is learning to read! he has been asking me for weeks now what certain words say and he's been sounding out letters. yesterday during tatem's nap, we sat down and i wrote out a word and helped him to sound it out. he ate it up and kept asking for more.

in about a half hour he mastered these words:

then we moved on to something else and today i wrote the words out on the above sheets of paper and taped them to the wall in a different order (b/c he could easily remember and guess at the words). when he saw them up on the wall, his face lit up and he immediately started "reading" the words. i'm so glad i grabbed my phone to take a video of him reading some of them - here he is reading some of his first words ever! he's so pumped! (ps sorry it's sideways - my bad)

wes has never been super into coloring, or crafting - he likes those activities for about 10 minutes; so letters, books and words have always been something we do together b/c he's so interested.  i love his excitement (or should i say "encigidness") to learn to read b/c it's a great productive activity we can do together!

love you wes! it's SO fun to watch you learn!
