we had a little family get-together to celebrate tatem's first birthday this weekend. we had the cleaned the house, set out a spread of yummy food, hung strings of pics from her first year, gotten balloons ... we were ready to party!
poor tatem, however, was not ready to party. she woke up from her nap with a 101* temp, bright red cheeks and in an overall bad mood. we think it's just teething b/c she has been fine otherwise and she is due for her first molars... poor baby!
we still had a great time with family and wesley loved blowing out the candle and playing with tatem's new gifts :)

my mother-in-law is a fantabulous baker/cook and she made the yummiest gluten-free birthday cake - i might have to request this cake for my bday.. it was meringue layers with almond paste and whipped cream with strawberries on top (see above photo for tatem's individual cake). once tatem got a bite of it, she did stop crying for a bit. she liked her cake :)
she was in bed by 6:30 pm and woke up in better spirits this morning.

Poor Tatem looks so miserable! Glad she took a moment to enjoy that cake. It looks AMAZING!
